It's a very nice place for a walk around the lake, but access and parking are poor. Could do with a path that goes all the way round. With some work it would be a great place to enjoy the scenery and wild birds.

Nice place for a stroll

I walk round the park twice a day. It's very peaceful with woodland and heathland full of wildlife, with a large spring fed lake. Only downside are the few visitors who leave empty cans and bottles littering an otherwise beautiful place.

As the previous reviewer has commented its a lovely spot with lots of wildlife - I've spotted Grass snakes, Great Crested Newts (breeding), Smooth Newts, Fox, Otters, Rabbits as well as endless birds. There are some geocaches on the site as well for the kids. There is an excellent opportunity for the Duchy of Cornwall to invest in this beauty spot and enhance it for visitors and the wildlife. There is potential to make a fishery out of one side and a nature reserve out of the other with the possibility of adding hides and maybe a cafe/carpark and learning centre for children, the fishery and car parking could easily fund this!Either way its a great spot to visit. just be careful as the water goes to 30 metres deep (10 metres very close in) and the undertow from the water will be very dangerous.

Sugwas Pools according to the Ordnance Survey or Brockhill Quarry according to the Duchy of Cornwall. This former quarry has been landscaped with extensive tree planting and it's had it's banks re-enforced. Access is permissive, which could be with withdrawn. Entry can be made from multiple points. The pools or lakes have blue algae in them, so not suitable for swimming or dogs. This area is popular with dog walkers and is divided into three main areas, Fields, lakes and woods. It can get muddy in the winter, so bare that in mind. You may well hear activity from the Army just by, it can be thrilling! Photographers love the stunning sunsets over the water with a distant view of the Brecon Beacons. Depending on the time of year you can see ducks, swans and hundreds of geese. You can just about park to the rear of the base, most walk from various approaches. This place isn't spectacular, but it's a lovely area for a stroll.
