Night out in Hereford, visited the Cellar Door, 8 in our group, all well behaved, went to the bar, staff served 5 of us then asked us to move away from the eating area? its a bar! and then all turned their backs on us leaving 3 without drinks, asked a member of staff if I could speak to the manager, told she was around somewhere in a white top, found the lady in question and made my complaint, no interest what so ever and no apology for the bad service, in fact went out of her way to justify the bad service we had received. I'm glad that the cellar door is doing so well that they can afford to treat customers badly, we left and I for one will not be returning to such an unfriendly venue.
What a delight! Delicious food, too notch service and a lovely atmosphere! They made ours daughter's b day truly special. We will be back xxx
Booked this restaurant for a birthday and unfortunately it didn't add to the cheers and celebration. On arrival to the restaurant we were greeted by a red head female member of staff who made a passing comment about being a nervy booker due to me checking on the day that we still had the table. Most restaurants call to confirm your table on the day, so as this was not completed by Cellar Door I thought I would confirm myself. When ordering our mains I asked for a side of paprika salted chips which came out with no paprika on. I asked the waiter if he minded asking the chef to add it to the same portion of chips t which he brought them back out without paprika on again and was adamant that they had paprika chips. As you can see from the picture ive uploaded, they were the most pale chips with no paprika on. It was quite obvious that they didn't understand what paprika was and after debating with the waiter I decided to leave the chips as it was clear they weren't going to honour the order and simply had no idea.In addition to the above, our guests who came with us were advised to have seasonal greens with their main which they didn't particularly want but were strongly advised to do so as the cod came simply on its own, and after this strong recommendation the seasonal greens didn't come with the main course, which was flagged to the waiter. The waiter then brought out root veg instead and way after they had finished their main course. To be fair to the restaurant, they did remove these from the bill. One good point I could give is that the food that we did have on our table (bar the pale non-paprika paprika chips) was very nice and well cooked. All in all, the food was nice but the comments made by staff on arrival made us feel uneased for the rest of the night, the waiter arguing with me that there was paprika on the chips when clearly there was not, a chef so stubborn to food returns to the kitchen that he refused to put any paprika salt on and the mess up with most orders made it an unpleasant experience.
The festive menu was simply exquisite. Normally we use a pub close to our work office but we ventured further afield this year for works Christmas meal & wasnt disappointed. The staff were very attentive & again the food was brilliant. Highly recommend this place. We were recommended it by a friend of a colleague now Im recommending it to all. Merry Christmas.
Popped in unreserved for Sunday Lunch. Lovely welcome with food to match. Beef served pink and meal is accompanied by less commonly used vegetables such as squash, mange tout & leeks. There are undoubtedly cheaper places in Hereford to get a Sunday Lunch but for my taste very few that will be better.
